Road Map to QuickTime 4

Media Handlers: Text

This chapter describes the functions that are unique to text media handler components. Applications do not normally interact with media handlers directly; applications make calls to the Movie Toolbox, which calls media handlers as needed. The material in this chapter will be primarily of interest to developers whose applications will allow the creation or editing of text tracks in QuickTime movies.

Text Media Handler Functions

Inside Macintosh describes the functions that can be used with text media handler components, including adding plain or styled text samples to a movie, setting scrolling and highlighting, and text searching. The text description structure is also defined. QuickTime 4 Reference adds a new text media handler function.
